Pat and I hit the water a bit late today, close to 11AM. I picked him up at WT ramp and we went bass fishing. My plan was to fish a single pattern in WT and see if I could find some congregations of fish that I hadn't found before at this time of the year. Because I had been catching fish on crankbaits on drops the past few days I thought we'd continue with that pattern and see if we could reproduce the results in other places in the creek. We started on a drop that I'd only fished a few times in the past and hadn't had much success. I had gone over it with my depthfinder on going towards the ramp to pic up Pat and thought I could see some fish there. We cranked it for a while with no fish to show for it so I switched colors and had one on the first cast even though it shook off. That set the color for the rest of the day. I hooked and lost another there too. That also was a theme of the day as we probably lost 1 for each that we caught for some reason before Bassert had to quit. The color that I started with was the color that had been working for me at dawn and dusk the past few days but wasn't the best color today. We ran the creek from where the channel depth was 8 feet out to where the channel was 23 feet deep and caught some fish at most places fishing drops that were similar to where I had been catching fish. When the crankbait bite died at each spot I would try a carolina rig with very little success. They wanted crankbaits. Pat and I fished until almost 4:30 and I called a couple of people and couldn't find anyone that was able to come meet me so I went back to finding fish. I did go out into Harrison bay and caught a couple but I knew that the fish would be biting again in the creek with dusk coming soon. I ended up adding 12 more fish to our totals and we ended up with a total of 26 bass in the boat today. If we had been in Madbomber's boat we would have had over 40 but long line releases and fish breaking off on the hookset with my carolina rig was much too common. I plan to beef up my carolina rigs soon. The water temp began closed to 70 and ended up at 74 at dusk. It was a blast to be out there with BassERT today. If you have a chance to take him you would be blessed.
