Finally got caught up on chores and decided to try Loudon a little bit . Didn`t get out Wed till 9;30 and fished til little after 2. Caught 9 ...all the same size within a 1/2 inch either side of keeper. Fished points off the main points and the adjacent shallower water...stayed in 10-15 with boat thowing to 6-10. Caught all but 3-4 on a XR-50 One Knocker...Chrome and Black. I really thought it might be a little late for that but tried it and killed `em with it on our Club Tx on Douglas on the 1rst of May. I really didn`t think it would work up there but we didn`t have a clue so why not ...it was already tied on. I had 5 in the box up there by 9:30 before my partner decided to give it a try. We culled close to 20 fish with it . Caught 3-4 on a lizard at one of my honey holes just checkin to see if they were there yesterday.
Wound up losing one of the 2 Cb that I had with a fatal bird nest... heard a funny noise with the reel and lookd down and line was gone except for the mess...never felt it break or anything. Called it a day and reloaded the reel with some 12# suffix promix.
Went back out this morning about 8:30 and went to some water I hadn`t fished in years close to Loudon Dam and started catching`em on the XR again in about 8-10 of water.... just wind it real slow. Wound up on some main channel shallow side..... sides of the points and and boated 16 more...all the same size . Did lose one about 3-4# that spit it out when it jumped emoBang ...Oh yeah.... I lost the winning fish and big fish when a 5-6#plus pulled off at the Douglas.... gonna have to rethink the hooks on XR....... I know there sharp cause I stuck one in my thumb this morning unhooking one this morning. Gonna keep throwing it till they quit or my shoulder falls off. You can cover a lot of water with it.
Pretty good 8-9 hours on Loudon.....If I could find some better fish I really like it.
