Hal, Chick - Sale Creek area, Crappie, 5-29-10, Catfish1 and the Invitational MCA Tx
#1
What a fun day, emoParty I was lucky enough to be invited to fish in the MCA tourney today with Catfish1 and it was a blast, emoThumbsup Although not a member of the MCA I was treated like one who had been there for years, making me feel right at home, emoTongue emoDance Jim and I fished in the Crappie only portion of the tourney, starting at 7 AM and fishing 'till 2 PM. We just couldn't get on any big fish but had over 30 fish caught by 8:30 and we were culling for more weight at that time with the 20 fish limit, emoTongue At times the catch was slow but we ended the day with a total catch of 78 Crappie and 3 'gills. Most of the fish caught today were in the 11 inch range with a few over 12 and a half but no real slabs, emoRolleyes Don't know where the bigger fish were today, emoScratch I did catch a nice black nose crappie which we don't see many of down this way.
Catfish1 and I took 1st place in the Crappie division, Catfish1 winning a nice, new trolling motor and me winning a new Minn Kota battery charger, both really nice prizes. I think everyone who competed left with a prize, emoThumbsup
I want to thank Catfish1 and Big Jim Raulston for inviting me to fish with them and also a big thanks to Drum King for his patience the last 2 years in teaching me how to catch crappie, emoWorthy When he started teaching me I thought the only way to catch crappie was with a minner but now I know that's not true, emoBigSmile Already looking forward to next year's tourney although I've been told I can't have the same partner 2 years in a row, emoGeezer
The fellowship was great, the food was great but the fishing was best, thanks to all who competed, emoSmile
