Help for a beginner
#1
I have only been fresh water fishing once or twice when I was a kid and now my 7 year old is begging me to take him, but I don't know the first thing about what to buy, where to go (on Percy Priest Lake), what to fish with etc?

I am clueless when it comes to fishing and have no idea where to go or what to get. Somebody help me please!!! Your advice would be totally appreciated by this city boy.

If you are after a certain type of fish, someone on one those boards should be about to help. As far as where to start, it depends on how much money you want to spend[Wink]. Your best bet for getting started and not spending a bunch of money, would be to go to Walmart and buying one of those combo rod and reels. When I started off I used a close face Zipco, they are easy to use and don't cost a lot. Most Zipcos come ready to go with line already on the reel. Then just buy some hooks and some split shot sinkers and maybe some bobbers and worms. You could also fish on the bottom without the bobber but I think it is easier for a kid to catch fish with a bobber. I hope this helps but you could also go to your local bait and tackle shop and ask them for more information. They should be able to give you more info on your local lakes.

Hi Beginner. I'm a fellow Tennessean and I only live a few hours from Nashville. I would be more than happy to help you and perhaps we can arrange to meet somewhere and I'll take you and your son fishing. I've never been fishing in Nashville but I'm sure I could help you.
