Water Temperature: 82
Water Clarity: 4 feet or greater

I got to enjoy the back deck of the Steve Cox boat today from about noon to 4:00 PM. Steve had already been doing well on top-water up to the time he picked me up at Little Hall at noon. We didn’t have to travel far to pick up where he left off. His top-water bite continued (quick pace, walking retrieve). My fish came on lead-head worms and the double-fluke rig. They were pretty much biting anything.

The cloud cover might usually turn the fish off or at least scatter them but they wanted to eat anyway. And it made the day very tolerable from a comfort standpoint. We even felt a cool breeze occasionally.

We ran south just for a change of pace and did not do as well so back to the LH area to mop up before leaving at about 4:00 PM. The key seemed to be secondary points. That, or a point that you might classify as something between a main lake and a secondary point. LOL, Steve and I actually had to discuss it. (What kind of points should we call those?) When you get north of Brown’s Bridge around lots of bends and islands it is sometimes a little less straight-forward.

The strikes are still generally coming from water about 14 – 18 feet deep. Structure is critical but the fish will come out to grab the top-water. Put your boat in 35 to 40 feet and cast toward 10 and you'll get bit.

We’re still not quite at the wild all-day top-water bite we hope for on Lanier but it seems to be just around the corner.

God bless and tight lines!
Richie Rich
www.LanierMAPPED.com
