When the highlight of your day turns out to be lunch at the Dayton Krystal you know the story has to be good one.

Captain Hazmat ramped at Sale Creek and came across the river to pick me up at Grasshopper this AM. We went up river and I caught an 18 inch LM bass on a shakey head that was so skinny she might have gone 2.5 pounds. (Pre spawn would probably have weighed in at 4-5 pounds) We both missed a couple more at our first stop and decided to fish some river humps. We caught one more, let's just say it counts if you can see it, beside the boat. It shook as I was getting ready to flip it in the boat. We both missed a couple more at this stop.

Captain Hazmat decides we are going to try to catch some trophy Drum at an affluent pipe. We fish there for about 30 minutes and he hooks in to something big with a spoon. It bends his heavy action Skeet Reese rod double and is putting up a good pull. Then as quickly as it started it was over. The fish apparently let go or the hook wasn't set good because it was gone.

On our way back up river, the unthinkable happened, blown motor. It was at this point that I found out that my Towboat US membership was only good if I was in my boat. However, the Towboat US phone rep was glad to line us up with a tow and call me back with an estimate. THANKFULLY, a very large center console boat with twin 150's came by and we were able to flag them down. They towed us back to Sale Creek. (took about 30-40 minutes to tow us back). These guys were super nice and refused our offer of gas money. They just said, "We have been there before and only hope you will stop and help us if we get in the same shape in the future". We thanked them and they left.

KEEP in mind I am parked at Grasshopper Creek on the other side of the river. We got the boat back on the trailer and Mike hauled his boat back home. After we got it unhitched he drove me back to Grasshopper to get my vehicle. We stopped in Dayton and enjoyed some steaming hot Krystals.

All in all the day turned out OK thanks to the guys in the center console boat.
