Started off running to a spot that has been holding some fish the last 2 weeks and immediately marked what we were looking for. Started throwing deep cranks and jigs with not much luck. Threw a C-rig and started getting hits, but couldn't buy a hook-up. Must have missed 4 or 5 in a row. Th fish were nailing the bait, but weren't holding on to it. Just slapping at it I suppose. Seems to be they way they acted all week for us. Oh well.

Realized our marker buoy had managed to drift off with all the water they were pulling. Remarked our spot and started chunking again when I got nailed on a DD22. Told Hart it was a good fish and brought it up to the surface....it was a SLAB crappie. Easily over 15"s. And it absolutely mauled my crankbait. Got back in position and wham, another hard hit. Again I told Hart it was a good fish and to get the net. Turns out it's another HUGE crappie. Again on the DD22. Decided we didn't want to catch crappie all night, so started slowly working our way back down river as the sun started fading. Hit another ledge or two and marked a lot of fish, but never could get them to bite anything. Wasted a lot of time trying, then decided to try another pattern.

We hit a deep water dock with soft plastics and Hart pulls out a tiny little 8 or 9 inch Smallie. Thing hit a 10" trick worm! I flipped right in behind him and felt the slightest "tick". Set the hook and up came our first keeper on a monster worm....too bad it was only a 14.5" Spot. But a keeper regardless. Thought we were on to something and missed a few hits at the next dock. Then things completely shut off. We didn't catch another fish all night. We got some hits and I had one break me off on a dock, but that was it. Went back to the ledges with jigs and spinnerbaits to no avail. Ran down to the dam to fish some trash and got NADA.

Twilson had talked me into fishing again this morning at around 11pm. So at midnite, we tossed the Spot, loaded on up, and headed back home. Talked to rodbuilder for a while at the ramp and he had a couple solid keepers. Looks like he just missed big fish...too bad Rudy. Good talking to you!
