I got an EARLY start today to look for some crappie before the heat really set in. I put in at Soddy Creek at 2:45AM and proceded to look for some lights at docks to fish under. At first it was pretty slow but I finally found where the fish were that were hungry. I had 1 'gill, 25 crappie, and 2 bass before the crack of light, emoTongue The day didn't produce any slabs but about 75% throwbacks for the entire trip, emoScratch After it started to get light I went out into the river to search for some better fish, (Watch out, there's lots of floating debris on the water right now). I hit some deep structure without much success, only 3 or 4 then on to some known docks where the bite picked up with some quality fish, most running around 11 and a half inches with a couple 12+ but no TARPs today. Fished some bluffs which produce very low returns today. Some of the regular docks didn't produce a fish, especially when I hit one which had lots of current, emoScratch I ended the day around 10:30 with a total of an even 50 crappie so it was a good day and I did beat the heat, emoSmile
Watch for all the trash in the water right now, dangerous at night to go without a good light and trying to be up on plane, :o
It was good to see fellow CFF members out on the water, BassERT & Sam rode up and took over the dock that I had been catchin' fish on emoPoke (Actually I told them to fish the opposite direction from where I was on the dock because they had stopped biting from the direction that I was throwing, It worked, emoSmile ) I love it when a plan comes together and looked like Sam was having a ball, emoSmile
Also ran into Lab Man and Polo hunting for bass, hope they did good, emoThumbsup
All in all it was a really good day, catching 50 crappie and not breaking a sweat on the 1st day of Summer, emoTongue
