Hal and I fished for 4 hours this AM for bass and crappie. We wanted to get into some schooling bass, but they weren't doing their thing this am. We fished for crappie for a while and caught 20. Hal got a tarp 14.75 inch beauty. All fish released. We each caught a bass while crappie fishing that was around 3 lbs each. I also caught 1 drum and 2 yellow bass. On the first yellow bass, as I was bringing it up from deep water and just under the surface, there was a bass on his tail that looked about 3 lbs and trying to eat the yellow bass. Later on, we tried drop shotting for bass and I hooked up a bass on the first drop and then another bass on the 2nd drop and thought that we had gotten into them. After about 10 more minutes, I caught a 3rd drop shot bass and Hal missed a couple of bites and they shut off.
So we ran to the area of the river where the bass have been schooling and there was only about 2 or 3 times that the fish came up and they were really out of range each time. We did motor over to one area that was about 400 yards away where we saw them come up a couple of times and I managed to get one to hit a Zara puppy. Hal caught a couple on topwater too. It started getting warm and we decided to put the boat back on the trailer at 10:30. Fun while it lasted. emoBig
