Low water, try almost no water!!!!
#1
I have been aching for a fix on wipers on willard, but my boat is too large to make it on Willard, so with some contact with Old_Coot it was on, we arrived at the N. Marina at about 7:00 last night with eyes and mouths wide open with surprise. The surprise being the lack of the N. Marina and 2 trucks with small boat trailers in the parking lot. Hopefully Old_Coot will post the picts but I can actually walk clear across the bay of the N. Marina over to the State Parks docks from the boat launch!!! Water temp at the marina was 82 and on along the west dike was 77. It was definitely interesting being in one of only 3 boats on water!!! The water depth from the ramp to the main body of water is only 1 1/2 feet deep.

As for fishing, very slow!!! Seemed to track alot of fish with Old_coot only getting one into the boat, Yes I was skunked at willard once again!!! ALot of top water activity along the west dike, but nothing you could call a boil. I agree with Xman, give it 2-3 weeks and it will be on!!! Had some good hits and watched a wiper become $4 richer by taking old coots producer lure and some line!!! a really good hit, but over all great trip, great sun set and a once in a lifetime sight of willard extremely low!!!

I'm glad you two got some pictures, they will come in handy when the water level comes up, now we know what where those shallow spots are. Did either one of you take any pictures of the low water areas in the bay? WH2

I would love to join you guys if you don't mind. I'm also waiting for the willard wipers to explode. When the wipers are boiling in August do they stay up long enough to paddle to them in a tube? Are they close to shore, what's the strategy?

Thanks,

Al
