Mike had be PMing me for a week or so about dropshotting and today we decided to hit the Chick to give it a try. I put in at HBSP and rode over to Chester Frost to pick him up. While waiting at the dock I caught a short LM on a shakey head. Told Mike before he ever got in the boat he was down 1 nothing.emoLaugh
We headed up river to scout some areas above the nuke. Nothing happening so we hit the green bouey and boated 3 shorts. Saw some schoolers but could not get them to take a topwater.
Gave up at the nuke and headed to the ledge I did good on Monday. The fish were there but they were very negative. We watched HUGE schools of threadfin work over the ledge and did not see one blow up. Unreal. We were able to boat 4 blue cats, 6 yellow stripe and 5 largemouth off the ledge all on drop shot powerminnows. Far cry from the 20+ that was boated off this area on Monday.
Just before dark we hit some shallow grass and boated 5 on chigger craws including a chunky 3-3.5 lber and two more solid 2-2.5 lbers. Mike was not doing to well with the chigger craw until he asked me how I was working the bait. As I was showing him he started mimicing my actions and got the one in the pic. Pretty funny.
Took Mike back to CF and on the way back to HBSP I hit an area after dark with a black/blue spinnerbait and boated one short.
Totals for today was 15 largemouth (4 keepers, best 3 around 7.5 lbs), 4 blue cats, and 6 yellow bass.
Thanks for riding with me today Mike, it was fun.
