There must have been a tournament out of CF today because the lot was full when I got there about 8am. I just wanted to fish abot three hours and work with my new graphs some. So I went up to the Nuke plants and marked some fish. Not many bass but plenty of drum. I think I caught five all good ones. Put up pretty good fight too! DrumKing would be proud of me. Caught a few white bass deep. Using 3/4 oz spoon. Right on the bottom. They are really good fighters in 35 to 45 feet of water. Caught a couple bass and a couple cats and hooked one mystery fish that was like a freight train. Immediately begin to pull drag as if was racing to the surface and emoDoh my line breaks - which did not make sense because the drag was not set tight. I guess I will never know...... If you go there was an armada of boats there. I talking 15 or more. I had to move once I was on the fish because about three boats just came on in the spot .... They did not catch any so did not matter and I was ready to move on. Saw a 2+ bass struggling on the surface as I moved up river and decided to see if I could help it. It was full of air but pretty healthy so I got my rigging needle out and fizzed my first bass. He swam into the depths. Guess one of the TX guys culled and did not check to see if this guy could live before throwing him in. I hope the bass are treated carefully today and released in deep cool water and not the hot tub water by the bank. emoHoppingmad Tight lines off the water about 11am which was when the chiggers and destroyers started appearing!
