Early in the morning, I got through the fog and mist and picked up YB.
We put in at the church and I was determined to get our favorite bridge to pay off
with some crappie.
We had one here and one there and were considering a boat ride when YB tells me he has a 2 lb bass.
I passed my net over and watched as he lazily played the fish.
He fooled around and the fish came out from under the boat and I noticed it wasn't a bass, but it was,
in the words of Roland Martin, "a MONSTER Crappie!".

He tried a couple times to knock it off with the frame of the net, but he was rewarded with a 2 and a half lb crappie.
It was just shy of 16 inches!!
What a biggun!!

He didn't
in the pic, but he shook for quite a while.
What made me proud was that he got the pic and released that monster.

We didn't do much and had to release the few fish we had in the live well as we didn't have enough to cut.

Also, I caught a big rock bass that looked like a smallie and had a
patch!!
A new breed of fish? Maybe?

Also massive schools of shad, skipjack? were running off the main channel in the Nick.
Thousands and thousands with half their backs out of the water everywhere!!

We talked to some oldtimers who said they have never seen that level of activity before...ever!

Quit at noon and put my new winch on my trailer a lttle later.

What a day!!
