MrWiskers, Chick, CFF Night Tourny - 2nd Place and Big Bass, 7-16-2010, Jmax

<br /> We started the evening off fishing the shell beds I have been doing good on the past couple of weeks. Pulled up and did not mark much bait or fish. I guess the front had them screwed up. Fished there for about 30 minutes, caugth a 3 lb blue cat and decided to head to the grass. <br /> Hit our first grass area, again a spot I had been doing pretty good on the past couple of weeks, and we boated 1 short and got our first two keepers: both just over 15". Caught fish on chigger craw and spook. Jmax did catch a keeper on the spook but it was deep hooked and we did not want to risk it in the livewell so we let it go so only one keeper in the well at this point.<br /> Almost dark we headed to our other grass area (which will come up again later). Boated a couple of shorts and that was it. Went back to the first grass area after dark and got nothing.<br /> Gave up on the grass and headed to the Wolf to chase some of Jmax's pets. Long story short we did not boat a single fish in there. The Wolf sucks.<br /> Left the Wolf and hit some docks with lights. While I am fishing a lighted dock, Jmax is fishing behind the boat and boats our second keeper on a black worm: a nice 2.94 lber. It is now about 11:45 and we just got our 2nd keeper. A few minutes later I get our third keeper on a black/blue spinnerbait: a pitiful 15.1 incher. But we have a limit. Fish around there for another 30 and headed back to our second grass area.<br /> We figued we would fish the grass the rest of the night and shoot for a big one. We were joking around that we have waited until the last hour of the last 3 tourny to catch our big fish so why would tonight be any different. Now I have to set this up some, all evening I am picking on Jmax for his less than steller netting skills and making fun of his little 4" shakey head worm calling it a "wennie worm". So about 12:45 I have a freight train nail my spinnerbait and I yell "It's a good one get the net." to which Jmax replys "Yeah right". "No, I really have a good one, get the net, big fish, big fish!!" I start yelling. "Really." comes from Jmax. ''Yeah, get the spotlight, get the net!!!!!". I get the big girl up beside the boat and in the spotlight it looked like a small whale. In the net she goes. Ended up being our biggest fish and won big fish for the tourny right at 5.29 lbs. We continued to fish the grass with spinnerbaits until quitting time, Jmax did catch another keeper to upgrade us by 0.05 lbs.emoLaugh <br /> We ended up getting 2nd place with just over 10 lbs and big fish at 5.29 lbs. We worked our butts off all night and boated 11 largemouths with 7 keepers (5.29. 2.9, 1.97, 1.95, 1.91 was our best 5) and Jmax lost another one that would have kept but not helped. Very slow evening and we boated 4-5 of our fish and two of our keepers that we weighed in the last hour of the tourny.<br /> It was good to see everyone at the ramp and getting paid to fish is always a good thing.
