We had a pretty good storm blow through last night and into the morning. I checked the radar and decided to give it a go. It did not rain on me but man the wind was howling. I took my boat out for the second time by myself and tried to go to work on some breaking fish. I started out throwing the small spinnerbait and did not get bit, even with a color change. I changed to a DT series and the fish started up. They where not killing the bait, just grabbed it and ran. The bites, although there, just weren't very often. So I changed to a CR with a small craw and the fun was on. I kept watching where the fish were breaking and started throwing at them when they broke. I finally found the main school in 17 to 20 ft. of water on a drop to 30 plus ft. The fight was on, the interesting part was that they were hitting a rig, the same way that they ate the crankbait. You would be moving along and the bait would just take off. No thump, pause or anything, the bait would just start going in the opposite direction.
Sitting in one spot I caught close to three limits of keepers. The hard thing was staying in an area where the rig would reach the ledge, could have been because the wind was blowing and I was sitting on the main channel in a exposed area. I need to practice on my trolling motor a little more.
