Took my oldest son out yesterday evening for a little short trip to a spot that seems to only hold smaller fish lately. It was perfect for this trip and the fish were all over. emoSmile I fixed Carter up with a 1/4 oz jigging spoon on his little ultra lite. He's not quite a good caster just yet so I would cast out to where we were marking a BIG bunch of fish and he did the rest. He caught a ton of whites and spots that were mostly 10 to 12 inchers and a few largemouths. I tried getting a good picture but when he was looking at the camera the fish was flopping like crazy. When I got the fish in there good Carter was looking off somewhere else or the line would slip through his hands. Oh well he is 3 yrs old. I took a couple anyway and one was a 14 inch smallie he got while reaching for his juicebox emoWorthy. He was hooking fish and not even knowing it! He would just hold the rod and I would say reel in a bit or let it sink and he did great. I worked the bait with the trolling motor also emoThumbsup. They bit the spoon good and when it started getting toward sunset I switched him to a chartreuse hair jig. The fish hit it so hard he didnt even have to set the hook! Was great to see the little guy get his line stretched and hear the drag sing. We both had fun. I never pulled my rods out because this trip was all about Carter. emoThumbsup
