Fishing the Snake
#1
I was just wandering if there are any areas along the snake between heading out from Marsing where you can actually drive out to and camp and fish any more I haven't been on the river there in about 12 years but now that I'm back I'm looking for a good place to take my grand daughter fishing any ideas??? Open to other areas closer to the Boise area also just I used to Live in Nampa so that's the only area I know for now....
Thank You.... [fishin]

You need to take a drive along Map Rock Road and check out the access areas. Or you can drive the Owyhee County side of the river along the Marsing-Murphy road. You should also check out the Marsing ponds. There are lots of trout there and it is stocked regularly.

Or, if you are now in Boise, you can find lots of access from Swan Falls dam downstream, or Celebration Park upstream.

I fish the Snake between Homedale and Swan Falls over 100 times every year and fishing is good. There are lots of smallmouth and catfish. Over the years I have only caught 1 rainbow trout in that 52 miles of river. But I fish for smallmouth bass, not trout. It was a dandy 20 inch rainbow, and it took a 4" plastic worm.

Hmmm I am in Boise now but I'm not appose to driving to Marsing either I used to fish along the snake out near Lizard Butte area but alot of thats land has been baught up and the access was off limits last time I was down there. But I knew there had to be other places to go. It's just been forever since I had been there. When I was married my Husband never wanted to go to CJ or Marsing ponds just the River and Just one area so unfortunatly I don't know many places to go or even how to get there but I have maps and I can read them LOL Just looking forward to hitting the waters again and enjoying a day fishing.....From the bank though I don't have a Boat or even a truck yet LOL.....Thanks for the info though I will try those areas that you all have mentioned I love Bass fishing even more that I like Trout fishing. I caught a 5 lb. Lg mouth in Missouri just this spring before I moved out here to Boise it was a beauty I really want to get into fishing regularly again I miss it and haven't been able to do it near as much as I would like Sad Am how ever going to buy a PU and a small boat for next year thats for sure.....
