Judie and I put in at CFP about 6:30 this morning. I got to sleep in till 4:30 today, yesterday was up at 2:30. I would be dying without my naps. Today was jigging spoon day. Judie is very good with a spoon and loves to jig up those fish. She started out hot this morning at out first main channel hump, caught about 15 yellow bass, 3 Largemouth Bass 1 1/2-2# and had another good fish come unhooked at the boat. I was trying to keep up, but hardly had time to fish for taking her fish off the hook. She was using a 1/2 oz silver hopkins spoon and vertical jigging with somes sweeps. Have to try different jigging patterns to see what works. I did manage 1 LM and a blue cat and a couple of yellows on drop shot rig with gulp minnow. Also got med drum on jigging spoon. Most of the fish caught at 27' level. When we moved shallower, nothing doing.

I think she got tired of hauling in the fish, so we moved to another main lake hump edge. Judie picked up right where she left off on the other hump. Yellow bass, couple of LM. I had a big hit (heavy fish) on my killer spoon with twin trailers and it was pulling line when came undone. Inspection of jig showed on of the top trailers gone. They were tied with 20# mono so I dont think it broke. Probably knot gave way. emoBadLanguage Didn't do any good there with dropshot.

Headed upriver to try a couple spots near the nuke. Saw Hal and Drumking working on a crappie spot. Stopped by to offer some advice, but they didn't want any, lol. Been awhile since those two have been out together. First stop Judie is still using her jigging spoon and has a fish hooked up immediately. Looks to have some weight, and when finally get to surface is her first drum. Marked a lot of fish in a couple of spots, but didn't catch much, couple of yellows and 1 sm largemouth. Didn't work the areas real hard, probably could have found some feeding fish.

Was starting to get hot and wanted to hit one more spot before we packed it in. Set up on a channel edge near an area with an eddy flow and Judie hooked up with a real good fish as the jig dropped. It ripped off some line then went down again, she was doing fine fighting the fish on 6# line. Suddenly started another run and drag was buzzing when bang line parted at the reel.

emoBang emoBang From the way it fought with the surging runs I am thinking it could have been a striper.I know some have been caught in that area in the past. Will never know, but it was a very good fish. Judie was ready to head in as she lost her favorite jig. I do have about 10 more just like it though. Had a couple of crappie waylay us on the way in.

Back at the dock at 10:30 with 22 yellow bass, 7 LM bass, 2 Drum, 1 blue cat, 2 Crappie. All returned to the lake.

A good time was had by all.

Regards, Labman
