Got out about 6:30 from CFP and it was COOL going across the water. Felt really good to not be muggy and 85 in the early morning. Just knew the fish would be turned on, lol.

First stop marked quite a few fish on 15' edge of drop to 26'. Threw out a marker and then remembered I had left a marker up river yesterday. Oh well that is gone. Drop shot rig with a Chartruce Glup Minnow was king today. Lower weight to the bottom, couple of small twitches then lower the rod tip to let the bait dive to the bottom, pause and lift and feel a pull back. Lift the rod and tighten up the line then sharp little hookset. Caught 8 bass there and 1 cat in about 30 minutes. Nothing big, largest about 2#s.

Tried new jigging spoon with homemade front trailer hooks and no bottom hook. Just killed the yellow bass, if they even came in the same area as the jig I had a hookup. Sometimes with both hooks. I saw the idea in bass pro catalog, and thought I can do that with some old jigs I had. Seemed to work very well and never got a snag as no hook on the bottom of spoon.

Got tired of the yellows and decided to move to some shallow weeds to try out a spoon/trailer idea i saw in a magazine. Just a Johnson Silver Minnow spoon with a double leg trailer. Weedless and can bring it right over the weeds and when hits open water wobbles and legs look like a frog.
Had one blowup on the spoonfrog, but it was a sickly bass with no body weight. Don't think he will make it much longer. No other top water action today. Tried a couple of other places up river and while there found my marker just where I left it yesterday. Imagine that, lol. Caught a few more bass and 1 blue cat about 6#. Ended the day with 12 bass, 2 cats, 1 drum, and 10-12 yellow bass. All fish returned to the lake to fight another day. Started to get hot so headed home for a nap.

Regards, Labman
