Wednesday we met up with Paul and Tim to try our hands at some deep sea fishing. We met up at 11:00 and got on the water by about noon. We head out to the spot Paul has been catching bait lately and someone was sitting on his spot illegally diving. Paul let them know how he felt about that and we moved on to trolling for dolphin. After a short while one of the rods gets bit and Christy reels in a barracuda. I had never seen a barracuda in person before. It seemed to fight pretty hard but the way they ruin those trolling baits I can see why everyone cusses when they catch one. Anyway we get some pictures and get back to fishing. We hook up again and I reel in the first dolphin of the trip. This was a trip of firsts for me. I had never seen one of them in person before. I was amazed about how pretty they were! What beautiful fish. Anyway we troll for a while more out to the spot we are bottom fishing picking up another barracuda and Christy a dolphin. We also saw numerous porpoises and see turtles as well as a Sailfish that jumped 3 or 4 times... We anchored up for a couple of hours and fished for grouper. Since we didn't have sardines for bait we never picked up a keeper but the ramoras (the things that stick to sharks and feed on their scraps) wouldn't leave the bait alone. Apparently its a huge pain to get them off the boat if they get stuck to the inside of the boat so we were throwing them as far from the boat as possible. We ended up pulling the boat out of the water at about 1 in the morning and finally getting to bed around 2:30.
