craazyboutbass, Parksville Tues. Nite TX, Spots, LM, 8/24/10, Heath J
#1
Heath and I got out there again for the Tuesday nite TX on Parks. We had a good 18 or 19 boat turnout for this one.
Im going to start off by saying that the fishing was beyond terrible tonight!
We started off fishing a couple main lake points. The fish were there in our usual spots, just nothing would hardly cooperate. Caught a couple small fish, heath caught a little LM on the first cast on the first point.
Second point we hit.... a million fish were there, nothing wanted to play except for one 14" spot.
Whipped into a cove and gave it a try. Started throwing blades... 5 or 6th cast, had a 2.5-3lb spot chase it to the boat and swim off emoRolleyes Worked our way through there hard... I end up having one nail it, maybe a 14.5" spot for keeper number two. Had no more luck in the cove and headed back out to the main lake.
Back on the main lake we pulled up to a bluff wall where I caught a couple a few days ago. Again, nothing there other than a couple tiny spots.... Cranked up and went to a point near by.
First cast on the point, another little spot. Had a few more bites there that I missed in 20-30FT of water. Casted on up shallower after not seeing any fish on the depth finder for a second. A decent fish took the dropshot... fought him for a few seconds until he pulled loose emoDoh Nothing big but atleast a keeper that got off there. After that we had no more luck on the point...
It was about 8:20PM by then, we move on to our next spot... just another point. Notta.....
8:40PM - Moon is finally coming up a little, we have moved to another point. Started catching quite a few fish, even doubled up at one time. But not one keeper ... emoLaugh
9PM - We head up the lake to our last spot of the day. Just a little bank, figured we may as well just give it a try and see if we can get lucky. Throwing texas rig/finesse now. Pulled up a couple litte fish here and there. By 9:25PM I hook a good one, starts pulling a little drag and the hook wants to pull loose again emoBang Oh well... fished down the bank a little more, I catch another spot going 14.5" for our 3rd keeper of the night.
9:45PM - Not getting anymore fish to cooperate, we are just about ready to give up... Told Heath that I'm gonna make one more cast. Made one last cast and there she was, a 2.90lb largehead for our 4th keeper. emoWorthy
Of course after that fish I squeezed in a few more casts hoping to get a 5th and final keeper until it was time to head to weigh in... Nothing else cooperated and that was it for tonight.
We placed 2nd with 6.28lbs and had 2nd big fish of 2.90lbs.
1st had 8.88lbs out of a 5 fish limit, and 3rd I believe had 6.12lbs? - Not sure who had big fish, but I think it was a bag of 5lb something. It was a nice 3.77lb largemouth. emoToast
Weather was awsome and as for the fishing....well...not so awsome! Had a blast tonite, even though the fishing was pretty slow. Didnt take any skill for us to get 2nd, just a whole lot of luck. emoThumbsup
And for a heads up, next week will be the last open Tuesday night tournament on Parksville for 2010... come on out and fish it if you can! emoToast
Good luck and be safe on the water Wink
