Have you ever had one of those days when the first place you go you have a monster hit and you miss it. Sad That happened to us last night. Went to the first spot fishing worms and shakeys...nothing. Pick up a top water and made a long cast. About 2/3s back to the boat and a huge one comes totally out of the water and crashes down on my bait. How I missed it...I could not tell you. emoBawl Colby thought it looked about six and I thought it looked about five but regardless that made us sick for the rest of our night. Moved from there and started hitting grass flats with shallow scattered grass. The next one crushed it also and it was right at 4, then a few later another just sucked my top water bait under and I set the hook. It was 4.33 lbs. I weighed that one. Next one again a huge explosion and he missed it. emoDoh They would only give you one chance. About thirty minutes later and it is now getting dark, I have another kill my bait. A chunky 2.25 lber. The rain was moving in and I had two more misses. emoScratch One hit and that was it, they would not hit at it again. I think they were hitting at it out of reflex. It started raining a little heavier and we took off and went back to HBSP to sit it out. We waited about an hour and a half before it slacked up enough to try again.

After the rain and lighting the bite died for us. We hit several places with shakeys, blades and worms. Boated about 10 or so more bass but only one would keep. Another 15.5 incher off a shakey by a dock. Try as we would we never got back on any good fish. We took a nap from 2:30 till 5:00. emoBigSmile Got back up at 5:00 and went at it again. We checked on our fish and one had died. emoBadLanguage Don't know why, water was iced and cool, stay alive was in it and I had the pumps going the whole time. emoCrazy We managed several shorts and finally Colby had a big one explode on his top water. He set the hook hard, I was watching him do it, I went for the net and she buried him in the grass. I turn the boat that way but no sooner had I did this she came off. emoBang With 45 minutes to go Colby gets another on a shakey that measured but only 16 inches and skinny. That at least gave us our limit. My batteries were about dead so we headed in at 7:30. We had 13.74 but lost .5 due to the one dead. emoSorry

If we could have gotten in every bass we had on or hit I would bet we would have broke 20 lbs last night. emoDoh It was just not our night to keep them on. I think we were 18th place so not a bad showing. There was a 26+ sack, a 23+ and a 21+ sack. emoWorthy Big bass was something like 6 and a half. There was some guys that found some good bass last night. We would have been right there with them around the 20 lb bunch but it was not to be.

Still a good night of catching. Caught bass on shakeys, blades, worms and top water..all in black. It was not hot at all with a nice breeze almost all night long. Thanks for putting these on to all the officers. emoThanks Congrats to all those that got a check. emoThumbsup Jmax
