Had a real good morning of fish catching today. Put in at CFP about 7:30 and headed to open water flat with a drop to about 26'. Marked lots of bait and fish. Caught 3 nice keeper LM on Gulp Minnow using dropshot rig. Then the cats started to eat my Gulps so I decided to move to another area I wanted to check.

Second stop was another open water spot with a creek channel running through it as it nears the main river channel. Place was loaded with fish and tons of bait. I started with the dropshot again, caught one nice bass about 3# and then a couple of nice cats around 4-5#. Changed to a Hopkins Gold Jigging Spoon and proceeded to kill them. Could not lower the spoon to the bottom without getting a hit. LM Bass, Yellow Bass, Channel Cats, Blue Cats, and a couple of Drum. They were eating it up. Had one really nice LM Bass follow the spoon to the surface as I was reeling it in. He swiped at it and missed, so I dropped it right back and he hit it again, lol. At least I think it was the same fish. Had a hard time getting to the bass, as the cats wanted to eat the spoon too.

I caught 11 nice LM Bass there, just drifiting around the general area of my marker, and landed 9 of them. Biggest was about 3.5#. I lost a couple at the boat by trying to be "artsy" and take a picture of them in the water, one last jump and they threw the spoon. Both were good fish. Probably caught 25-30 Yellow Bass, and at least 15 cats.

Wind started to get really strong about 11:30 so I decided to pack it in. Had a lot of fun, and non stop action. The screen shot shows just one small area of the spot, It was just packed with fish over a fairly large area from 24-35'.
If you just use your sonar to find a concentration of fish they are very catchable right now, and very concentrated. If the yellow bass are there the LM Bass are usually there too.

All fish returned to fight again another day.
