Carl Guffey, Ft. Loudoun, Catfish, 8/27/2010, Mitch Smith
#1
I gave my neighbor Mitch Smith a call and with the cooler weather we decided to try and catch a few cats. Mitch went out in his aluminum boat and caught some bait, a couple of shad and some bluegills and headed for my dock. We started fishing around 7:00 pm and quit at 9:30 pm but it was a nice evening and we even caught a few. The cooler weather is starting to make a difference in the fish. I landed the first one around 7:30, it just kept playing with the bait so I picked the rod up and got ready. Finally a solid tug, applied a little pressure(circle hook) and viola, hooked up. Did I mention that it was a turtle .What a way to start a fishing expedition. I threw back to the turtle spot and caught 3 cats over the next two hours and lost another good fish at dark. Mitch was feeling a little left out, he had several bites but no hook ups. He solved that problem once it got dark and even finished with the biggest fish of the day. Just a good day with a good friend.
