Brandon and I put in around 3 this afternoon.... mistake! Everyone and their brother was out there.
I knew the bite would probably be tough for us, and it was for the first 4 hours.
We started out fishing points with spinnerbaits, crappie jigs, texas rigs, and dropshots. Notta for about a half an hour...
Moved into a couple sloughs, throwing blades... managed 3 or 4 very tiny spots and a couple good sized bream in about an hour.
Took off back out onto the main lake. Threw blades and worms again off a shallow bank with a good drop off. End up catching one more small spot over the next 30 minutes... emoDoh Was thinking hopefully once the pleasure boaters got off the lake we would start catching em. emoWorthy
Fooled around for the next couple hours, catching a few small spots here and there and a bream or two.
Got up to a point that one of my buddies and his buddies were swimming on near by off the bank. Started fishing, getting nothing to take. Finally the leave after 10 minutes or so, and it turns on LOL.
We probably put 10 in the boat there off dropshots and t-rigg worms. It was about 7:15 when it just turned on. Left that spot around 7:50PM and headed down the lake to our last spot of the day and absolutly wore em out on dropshots and t-riggs again.
Boated another 15-20 fish there with almost all of them being keepers emoDance
Around 8:30 or so, Brandon hooked a big one that pulled off... man was he pissed! emoBawl Thinking that we just lost one of those big spots and wouldn't have another chance at it for a while LOL.
Ran around the point, just slaying the fish off the depth finder. Then we came up to a little brush that was sitting in 22FTow... dropped my bait down and hooked up with a goodun. The hook didnt pull loose, line didnt break or whatever can happen didnt happen... this time she got into the boat. Measured 20" and Id have to say she was right at 4lbs if not she was a little over or a little less. Didnt have a set of scales on me tonight, so I'm not sure. But anyways she was the biggest spot I've caught so far this summer and I'm pretty pleased with that.
We fished a little longer until it got just too dark... managed maybe one more. Got off the lake at 9 or so.
Long day but very fun towards the end. Best bite I've had up there since July when I was slaying em last. Hopefully they will bite as good as they did for a little while... I'm afraid they wont, but who knows... they are hard to understand sometimes emoRolleyes
Water temps were about 85F everywhere we went instead of it being 85F here and 88F there. Maybe thats why the bite was better to us this evening, dont know?
Thats it for now, may get up there again tomorrow evening and see if they are still that active. Hopefully so.
Be safe and good luck on the water. emoUSA
