I wanted to try a new technique I read about in a magazine. "Trolling for Gills" We picked a flat in 9-12 ft of water just off the main channel. We trolled both with the current, against, and across it. The fish didn't seem to mind from which direction the bait was coming. We used Norman "Deep Baby N's", a smaller profile crankbait that will get down 7-9 feet. We worked about a 1000 yard stretch of water all morning. The big Bream would hit like a ton of bricks, and were a lot of fun! The by-catch of smallies, spots and LM's was a nice bonus. Once we located the fish we could not troll more than 50 feet without getting bit. We quit at noon with 27 Bream, (10 of them got invited to dinner) 6 spots, 3 largemouth, and 5 smallies.
