Pete Jr. and I put in at Riverpark about 7:30am. The flow was 30K cfs and the water temp 81. We started between the powerhouse and the R/R bridge. Pete hooked something right away on a Sidewinder spoon that started to spool him, but then the hooks pulled out. Had to be a rockfish, we saw some feeding on the surface. There were bass chasing minnows and he caught a 14 in. LM on a Sammy. We caught a few small bass up there and headed downstream to the golf course and downtown. We caught the 2 smallies in the pics (19 and 17.5 in.) out of a 20-25 ft. hole, also about a 6 or 7 lb. blue cat that we were too lazy to net. Tried to get him with grippers and he broke the line. The 4 lb. channel cat also came out of such a hole. We caught several small spots around bridge pilings and a couple of better ones from barge tie-ups. We caught some fish on bait we had netted and some on plastic baits and spoons. The 2 better smallies were caught on live bait. All in all, we caught 5 smallies, probably 10 spots, 3 or 4 cats, one drum and several redeyes and bream. All fish were released. It was mostly cloudy with a slight breeze. We quit about 1:00. Quite a few people out fishing today!
