Labman, Chickamauga, Bass, 09/01/2010, solo - late afternoon outing
#1
Got a lot of stuff done around the house and the lawn mowed by 3:00. Thought I would try a late afternoon, evening outing for bass. Haven't been out in the evening since June.

Hit my current hotspot and it was loaded with bait and fish. Started with dropshot rig and gulp 4" minnow. Caught a couple of nice keepers and 1 small bass when Drumking stopped by. He had fished there earlier in the day and caught some good fish, and then went after Crappie and just stopped by on his way home. We just sat there and marveled at all the bait and fish. Caught another 2 or 3 and DK spooned a couple yellows and a large blue cat. Dickey headed for home and I kept fishing. Was having a hard time staying on top of the fish as they were moving with the bait schools. Hook a fish and then lose the school and have to hunt around to find another bunch. I managed 8 nice keepers there with the largest about 3.25#, 1 small LM, 1 Large Drum, 3 Cats, and got several Yellow Bass when I switched to a jigging spoon.

Got tired of chasing the fish so decided to head to another spot that I had done well on in the past. This is a little shallower flat 12-15', with a drop to 26'. It was loaded with fish. I sent the "greenie" drop shot down and had an immediate hit. 3.5# LM. Caught 3 more nice keepers there and then headed in with them still biting.

The screen shots show some of the large schools of bait fish and one of some stacked bass. Know they are bass as I caught 4 of them, lol. Very enjoyable evening and it cooled off nicely out there. All fish released to fight another day.

Regards, Labman
