What a day emoSmile emoThumbsup Stopped off at Soddy Tackle to get some Bobby Garlands and chat with Mark about 6:30 this morning. Mark gave me a hint as to where I might catch some good crappie so I was off on the hunt. Started fishing at 7;05 and by 8:00 I had 20 and could have had a limit of keepers easily, they were "ON" emoTongue What a blast and what a difference from the last time out. Water temps were around the 80* mark 'till it started to heat up about noon from the sun then I began to see 83*.
I found the fish in more shallow water than I expected, catchin' those first 20 in 9 FOW on a 4-5 count with a 1/32nd and a BG Electric Chicken. They liked the Electric Chicken best for most of the day but I did catch a few on Crystal Shad and only 2 on Bleeding Shad, emoScratch A few hit on the drop but most were on the slow retrieve with the Paulsey Twitch every now and then under the docks emoSmile
I spent about a third of the day playing with my new electronics toy and trying to learn how to save screen shots. Now I have to download them into the 'pooter and see what they look like.
I ended the day with 48 crappie, 3 'gills, and 3 cats, the biggest cat was a channel about 3 lbs.
I brought 14 home and cleaned them for a big fish fry tonight and turned the rest loose to get bigger.
Most of the fish today were around 12 inches but did catch a couple 13's.
I saw the picture some time ago of the guy's bass thumb so I took a picture of my "Crappie Thumb" and it was gettin' a little tender, emoSmile Sure was fun, too bad none of my regular guys that I fish with could go, emoPoke emoPoke emoBig
