[font "Arial"][size 2]Anglers looking for signs of fall received one this week when the N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries announced the dates for the striped bass season in the Albemarle Sound Management Area. The recreational season for stripers will start at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, in the Albemarle Sound Management Area . Stripers may be taken on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only, and the season will close at 6 p.m. Dec. 31 unless closed earlier by a proclamation. The minimum legal size is 18 inches total length. The creel limit is two fish per day. The same limits apply to holders of the Recreational Commercial Gear License. Striped bass caught by hook-and-line or by recreational commercial gear during the recreational season may not be sold. Recreational seasons for striped bass in the Roanoke, Eastmost, Middle and Cashie rivers are under the jurisdiction of the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission. Those areas remain closed.
