bent rod, Riverpark, CFF TX, Bass, 9/18/10, mallardecho
#1
After twisting Bill's arm, we went to see Riverpark. I called him Friday and asked if he wanted to go fish the CFF. His response was "we have never been there and I'm busy and will call you back". 15 minutes later, the phone rings and I hear, "OK, sign us up." He's so easy! I called Drumking to get directions and he even went and made a couple of pics of the entrance to and the ramp. You can't beat that. We left sometime Sat. morning or Friday night on the adventure and run into dragfish somewhere north of Georgia in a Hardees. We follow him to the ramp confirming DK's directions. We get there in plenty of time to enjoy the pre TX BS session of which Earl (I think) won. A short time later, in the twilight of pre dawn, sitting in the middle of a river we have never been on, we hear something that resembled a sick screech owl. Before Bill can even finish, "What the heck(or something similar) was that?", engines roar to life all around us. We follow half the field to the dam where we stayed most of the day. The first hour the bottom bit some, the fish didn't. I finally lucked up and stuck a chunky spot. Shortly thereafter, I almost took a bath. Flipflops do not brace well on wet boats sides while removing ones jacket and fishing at the same time. Also, I almost got to witness my 3rd hook removal in a week as I missed a Spook by a hair crashing to the deck. Bill said something about he did not remove hooks from that part of the anatomy and for me to get back to fishing and quit fooling around. Nevermind that I could hear a lot of snickering from just upstream. Anyway, I got a LM keeper a little later and we both missed what seemed to be good fish. A short time later, Bill caught the big fish, a 4+ LM. We stayed a while trying to cull the spot to no avail. We hauled downriver and Bill picked 2 no help spots. I was just no help. Back up river to finish the day where we ended up catching more no help spots. We caught about 10 bass. We threw everything but caught fish on jigs. We enjoyed the day and meeting everyone. Thanks to the guys that put on the TX. It was good to see Fat Albert out and about. Thanks Bill, it was fun.
