Shane and I got on the lake around 6:30PM yesterday evening and fished into the night until 4AM or so.
Started off with dropshots way up in the creeks fishing shallow banks, managed 6 fish before dark including a keeper LM.
Once it got dark we stayed in the creeks and the moon was already coming up.
Now we were fishing bluff walls with texas rigged worms. Fished this way for most of the night. Caught fish doing this all the way until midnight. Alot of the fish were small ones but I did loose 2 good ones. One broke off emoBang and the other pulled off after about 5 seconds, couldn't pull him up and he was shaking his head hard then the line goes slack emoEnforce
After midnight the bite was terrible for us for a good while. We tried fishing a few places, seemed like the fish were mostly up in the creeks but we got out on the main lake a little. Up in a few coves, nothing there either. Got back into another creek, boated a few more small fish. By now we probably had 25 or so fish in the boat, with only 3 keepers.
Our next spot was a deep bank with alot of trees, started throwing texas rig there with a little luck. Shane picks up a jig and starts getting alot of bites. Manages a couple fish, then he hooks the best one of the night. Fought the fish for about 3 minutes, it never gave up! Eventually got it in. It measured 19.5" and had a decent belly on him. Never got to weigh it as I dont have a scale as of right now, but guessed it was somewhere between 3.5-4lbs. After that I decided to put a jig on. 2 casts later shane pulls up another good keeper going about 17" for our 5th keeper of the night. Then I put keeper number 6 in the boat at 16" or so. After that the bite just stopped! Ended up boating one more fish over the next hour and headed in by 4AM.
We put a total 33 fish in the boat last night. That is by far our best night of night fishing on Parksville. Previous best night was 8 or 9 fish LOL emoParty So we beat that number by a landslide.
Snapped a couple pictures of the biggest one, of course it doesnt do any justice on the fish at all emoBang But I'll still put it on here.
Will probably get out there again Sunday afternoon/evening, weather looks like it will be cooling down for good starting this weekend so that is definatly a plus! emoToast
