Jordan River revisited
#1
Another grandchild wanted to go fishing with grandpa yesterday, so it was off to the Jordan River again after work. We fished for a couple hours and my grandkid whipped me badly. I put a size 8 hook on his rod, and 1/2 of a crawler. He ended up catching 6 carp and two baby mudcats. The largest carp was only about 1 pound (he lost one that was probably about 3 pounds) but he had a great evening of fishing, and that is all that matters. As for me, well I put on larger hooks and used dough balls. I got lots of bites (I think most of the bites were from smaller fish that were too small for my larger hooks), but only hooked one fish, which felt like it was a really nice one, but my leader got cut on a rock or something. I can't believe that I have lived in this area for over 20 years, and just this year learned from a gentleman on this site that there were fish that I could catch with the kids, and I could be fishing in less than 15 minutes from my house!

Hey Kent, Thanks for the great report. My 3 year old is wanting to start fishing with dad so I'll think I might start him with some small gills out in the basin in 2 weeks

Age three is a little old, but it still isn't too late to take him fishing for the first time -- but I wouldn't wait beyond this weekend!

He has all ready been fishing for the first time, but not alone with dad,I guess I better stuff him in my waders with me this weekend when I go tubing so I won't miss the kentofnsl dead line.

That might work if he is small enough and your waders are big enough. LOL
