Met Billy at Grasshopper ramp and we got fishing before 8 this AM. Billy had one slab n the boat before I could get my rod out of the holder.
First fish for me was a slab, I broke off.....nice start to the day. For about 20 minutes it was almost a fish on every cast, most being keepers in the 11-13" range. Billy got a nice keeper black-nose also.
We were fishing vertical structure and early it was a 3-5 count and the later in the morning it got, the deeper we had to go. Lighter colored baits on 1/32 heads, with or without tail lights were the ticket. We got greedy and were tossing back 10 to 11" fish early since the slabs were biting....kinda burned us in the end. We left a slowing bite to try other places, mostly docks and it SUCKED. We must have hit more than a dozen and caught about 12 fish, including my second ever TARP at 14". It was a loner as it was the only fish we caught on that dock! emoLaugh
Billy also caught a nice yellow perch and a spot, and we got about 6 bluegills in the mix as well.
We landed 61 fish with 37 keepers in the well, (see earlier comment). I think Billy hot a bridge on the way home and added a couple more keepers to his take. All in all, it was a GREAT morning, even with making mistakes leaving biting fish.
Thanks for the ride Billy, will have to do it again soon.
http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww68/....jpg
http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww68/....jpg
http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww68/...7f5604.jpg
