Found out yesterday that i would be having my Friday off. So, figured I owed Hal a ride and some company. I really didn't think he'd go with the wind forecast as it was but he did....we had a time!
Met up at Soddy Custom Tackle and was on the water by 7:15. Made a short run down river and started loading the boat with doubles. I want to say that we put 22 keepers in the boat and very few throwbacks. Not sure what color Hal was throwing but I started off with a BG Patriot Shad color and changed over to a SCT Yellow Tube.
Ran on down river a bit more and managed to slowly get our limit by 10 and start culling out smaller fish. Had a Spot, 2 Drums, a Cat and some REAL good Crappie there. Managed 1 at 14 1/2 inches.
Most fish were caught fairly shallow in at least 5-10 feet of water. If you were to count down a 1/16 jig..Maybe a 3-5 count? Didn't really pay attention to that.
We fished a few more areas not picking up a whole lot of anything and decided that the hurricane force winds were enough. We loaded up before noon ad went over to get our limit photoed by the Great Mark Grimsley at Soddy Custom. (I keep mentioning them and maybe one day they will sponsor me) emoBig
Hal, Thanks for riding today. I had a blast and really enjoyed your company. Those 30 are clean and ready for the freezer. We'll do it again soon.
*Hal has pictures
