Hit the Riverpark with Alvin today around 3:45. The wind was near gale force and the river was running pretty good. Lucky for us the wind was blowing out of the west and the bank I wanted to fish was a west bank. The bank we fished is a rip rap bank that has a large 8-9 ft flat on it. This time of year the smallies move up on the flat and bank when the currnet is running good.
We fished until 7:15 and boated 12 spots, 5 smallies (all around 12-14&quotWink, 1 keeper LM, 4 blue cats, 4 channel cats, 3 google eyes, 2 redbreasts and an 11 lb drum. Alvin lost about twice as many fish as he boated and we both had about 4 times as many hits as fish boated. Alvin also lost a 3 lb class smallie at the boat.
Fish were holding on rip rap banks and were caught on drop shot powerminnow, cranks, and black/blue pig n jigs. Water temp was 68-69, actually warmer than last weekend.
Awsome evening on the water and the sunset was sweet.
