2010 IFA Redfish Tour Coming To Orange Beach
#1
LIZELLA, GA - Redfish anglers from Texas to North Carolina and surrounding regions will converge on Orange Beach, Alabama, November 5-6 for the championship tournament of the IFA Redfish Tour Presented by Cabela's. The event, hosted by Caribe Resort and Cobalt Restaurant in conjunction with the Alabama Gulf Coast Sports Commission, will see anglers from six different divisions of the tour competing for lucrative payouts and yearlong bragging rights.

The 2010 IFA Redfish Tour Championship precedes the inaugural championship event for the IFA Kayak Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing, which will also be held in Orange Beach on November 12-13.

During the 2010 IFA Redfish Tour championship, prizes will be awarded, including lucrative payouts for a pair of tournaments-within-the-tournament. The Cabela's Overall Divisional Team of the Year Award, awarded to the division-winning team with the highest place of finish, and the "Ultra 6" award, a $5,000 cash prize awarded highest-finishing team that fished six or more regular-season events, add to the lucrative payout structure of the event.

Divisional Teams of the Year winners Rennie Clark Jr. and Drew Arndt (Atlantic Division); Dallas Dudley II and Steven Howie (Florida East Coast Division); John Henninger and Dwayne Eschete (Florida West Coast Division); Tony Jackson and Kelly Causey (Gulf Coast Division); Miles LaRose and Nick Rocca (Louisiana Division); Charlie Barton/Jack Barton (Texas Division) will each be vying for the Team of the Year Award in addition to the overall event championship.

As an added incentive for teams participating in multiple divisions, the IFA Redfish Tour will also present its "Ultra 6" Award, a $5,000 cash prize awarded to the qualifying team with the highest place of finish in the IFA Redfish Tour Championship. Any team fishing at least six events in any combination of divisions during the regular season is automatically qualified to compete in this tournament-within-a-tournament during the 2010 championship. The highest-finishing qualified team will win a $5,000 cash prize in addition to any other prizes available to them based on their place of finish. Teams were allowed to use a substitute angler in one of the minimum six tournaments required for program qualification, but must compete with their regular tournament partner during the championship event.

Contingency prizes have been increased for the championship event, including lucrative awards from some of the industry's top manufacturers and retailers. For teams participating in the Cabela's Angler Cash program, a $2,500 Cabela's gift card will be awarded to the participating team with the highest place of finish. Minn Kota ($1,500) and Humminbird ($750) will also be awarding prizes to the highest-finishing team with a receipt for a Minn Kota or Humminbird unit purchased prior to the pre-tournament captains meeting.

"We're excited to be taking our championship events back to Alabama's Gulf Coast this year," said IFA President, Jim Armstrong. "A lot of different factors must be taken into account when selecting a host site for high-profile events such as these, from accommodations to the quality of fishing and community support. The Orange Beach area of Alabama exceeds all of our expectations on all of these fronts and many more. We're expecting a great event and look forward to crowning our new champions."

The 2010 IFA Redfish Tour Championship Weekend's activities begin Thursday, November 4 with pre-tournament registration from 5-7 p.m. at Cobalt Restaurant (28099 Perdido Beach Blvd., Orange Beach, AL 36561). The Captain's Meeting will follow registration where check-in times will be assigned. Anglers will launch from Caribe Resort at safe light on both days of competition.

"Fishing is an integral part of the Alabama Coastal experience and bringing championship events for the IFA Redfish Tour and IFA Kayak Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing back to Orange Beach is a sign that fishing in the area is as good as ever," said Michelle Russ, Sports and Events Sales Manager for the Alabama Gulf Coast Sports Commission. "We're excited to once again be a part of crowning the champions from these two great tours and showing the competitors and spectators all of the beautiful resorts, beaches and waters that Orange Beach has to offer."
