Pre-spawn, Snake River, Smallie.
#1
Went to the snake river yesterday. Fished below Swan Falls. Water temp was 48 deg. Caught one pre-spawn smallie. Might be my best smallie ever. [Smile]

That's a great smallie, especially for Swan Falls. All I ever seem to catch there are dinkers!

Nice smallie. You should of released him above the dam so I could get a chance to catch him. [cool]

I usually do pretty good at Swan above the dam but I never made it there last year. Definitely gotta get back there this year.

I never said I released her. I did, but I never said so. Couldn't see keeping one like that with all the perch in the freezer.

I just knew a good bass fisherman like you, would let a spawner go. [Smile]

Nice Smallie. Now that 48 degree water needs to work its way upriver to my spots.

Nice fish!

I'm curious as to whether the river was high, muddy, and full of floating weeds below the dam? I was fishing 30-40 miles downstream below you that day, and those were the conditions. I wondered if there was runoff coming into the river, and if the weeds were ripped off the bottom, with more and more the further downstream a person went.

Incidentally, my two thermometers read 43 and 46 degrees of surface temp.

Not many weeds in the water near the Swan. The water was a bit dark, but not terrible.
