Pineview Fun 2 - 8/9
#1
Went tubing again in the same area with the same challenge of launching. Still worth it. It wasn't hot but, --------------, when I catch these guys for a afternoon fishun, well, it's totally worth it. I just can't get over the "pull" and fight these guys give me. If I have a choice, these guys are the top of my list for fight pound for pound!!! [shocked] Posting here instead of the ut. forum because I thought maybe you guys would appreciate it More??? Give me some feed back, ok.?

We do appreciate it. Glad that you took the time to report. I hope you had a little easier time launching your tube this time.

You sure have the bass porn shots down pat. Those are some beautiful fish. With fish like those to keep you busy, it isn't any wonder that we haven't seen you up in Idaho lately.

Keep up the good work!

You got that exactly right!!!!! Why spend all the $ for gas when I can travel 15 mi. and do this? Don't worry, I'll be up there pretty quick. [Smile] It's still my favorite fishery. [sly] I do enjoy the smallies the most though. [laugh]

Thanks bud, seems like fewer little guys and more big guys. [:/] This the result of the tigers? Like what I see. P.S. saw lots of minnows/fry and the smallies spit up the fry when I hooked em. Looks like there is plenty of fry forage, whatever they are. The fry seemed wide side in the body and white/dark., any opinions?

Hmm? That sounds like crappie to me. I know this last winter there were a ton of small crappie swimming around. Did you happen to keep any of the smallies? There stomach contents could probably give you a better look at what they were eating

that's what I was thinnin. Doesn't sound like Perch - and they're the main other forage fish up there, no? Wondered what all the spring flush was going to do to the next generation.

I'd bet the Musky do help make for more bigger bass - been amazed at the schools of small basslings at Newton, but I'd think by a good overwintering the Musky would have had a good chance to thin the herds. But don't think they've got Smallies at Newton, but Largies.
Pineview has ?? both ??

Great report Leaky - thanks for sharing it. How's the "pup" doing these days? I need to teach my young dog (menace) how to join the fishing/boating adventures. She's already claimed the boat in the driveway at least - jumps right in and out!

So are you dropshotting your plastics for those beasts? More Maniacs? Any favorite colors you're willing to share? (mud and earth, right?)

I hooked up my first Utah smallie at Willard (of all skunky places) this spring. Hit a (new) diving crank that seemed too big for that little bass to take on, but think he slammed the dang thing out of aggression as much as anything. Pretty wrapped up.

Thanks for sharing "over here". FWIW - I like your posts, hope to see more.

Well now, a lot of questions, but all are good. Sparky is healed as of a few months ago and is acting like a 2 yr old. Makes me very, very happy.
Didn't take him with me to the Pine because of the flooded shore line and weeds. Probably would have been just fine, but I've become cautious in my old age. Sometimes he does get in the way when i have a big un on but I think it's a good trade off.
Newton has LM, perch and crappie which is an excellent forage for Tigers.
Now, as far as fishing techniques, I use senkos or wave worms, wacky hooked thru a o rng and just fish the shore lie the best i can, slow retrieving along the weed edges W/o any weight. Maniacs cutter bugs in darker colors is a good alternative. Split the tails for better action. Actually, I would have switched to em but I was just being stubborn and using what was working
Get that dog out for more fun for both of ya,!!
