Question about spinning reel
#1
Hi everyone. I'm new on the forums here but I finally decided to register. Recently I've found my Dad's old spinning reel. I have only used spincasting reels myself. But I thought I would give my Dad's old spinning reel a go and so i got some new line and put it on. Now however I notice that the handle on the spinning reel does not lock. And so if my hand is not on the handle at all times then the line can run out. I'm not sure if spinning reels do not lock as do spincast reels or if mine is broken. Thanks for any answers. [fishin]

There SHOULD BE a lever or a slide or something that engages the anti-reverse aspect of the reel. I've not seen a spinning reel without one!

Or... the reels anti-reverse mechanism COULD BE broken...

What doc said. If it doesn't have a lever to engage the anti reverse, it probably has a full time anti reverse feature. Can you tell what brand and/or model it is?
