Weber river?
#1
Has anybody been on the Weber lately? If so what is working? I was thinking of going after work.

Which section are you talking about? I drive the section below Echo frequently, and I even wet a Line there last week. There is way to much water for me to want to fish it, but if you want to give it a try be my guest. As for the Rockport to Echo section I'm not sure. Water level is always consistent, but I'm not sure how the fishing is.

I went to the weber yesterday in Riverdale I didn't even bother to wet a hook. The river was running high and murky through town.

Are they draining the lakes up north in prep for winter? Why would the water be so high in the middle of a drought?

If you watch the water carefully , you will see fish rise in the evening . Most of the time in high water they will be close to shore . Try jigs , rapalas , panther martins , mepps , blue fox in bright colors for off color water . Won't be long and the water will drop and I always find lots of browns dead after that happens . I guess it must be the shock of all that water gone . I like fishing around Devil slide area . I haven't been to the Weber in about a year . Too busy chasing warm water species this year .

i guess you guys havent seen echo reservoir lately. its below 18 percent full now. what they have done to it is worse than willard. i have no idea why they are running it like that since we are out of irrigation season and i havent heard of any dam work for echo. but once again weber basin hits another use to be fine fishery and hurts it in echo. as for the weber river its a blessing for all that water they needed it.

Oh, I've seen echo. My in-laws live in Coalville and I drive up that way at least twice a month. I'm amazed at how low it is, it doesn't even look like a res anymore, just a pond.

i cant imagine what they are thinking drawing it down that low. there is no way it will fill up next year unless its a unbelievable snow fall. too bad cuz the smallies were getting good and fat in there. wonder how they will fair now.

I don't know but the perch were thick and decent sized there last winter ice fishing. All the fish will be really crowded now. Sounds like we should have a perch party there and give some of the Bass and Trout some room as soon as it's solid.

We made it up last night just to the mouth of the canyon, and just as we started fishing they must have opened the damn there at the rest stop. It looked like we were caught in a flash flood. So we went up a just above that rest stop and fished there. It was realy slow, but my buddy did manage to bring in 2. One about 3" and another about 9". The way he put it he caught 1 and a half.

On the other hand it is sure a nice sight up there. The leaves are realy in full color.

Xman, never noticed this post until now. So how did you do? Did you hook any of the elusive monster browns in there?

We did end up with 2 little ones, or I should say my buddy did. It seams that everybody I talk to has cought a 5 pounder out of there at one time in there lives. I have a hard time beleaving that, but I guess you got to let a fisherman tell his stories.
