I have been looking at buying a hand auger to use with the drill adapter i purchased. I was planning on buying the Strikemaster Mora or Lazer but while at Sportsmans Warehouse today I saw the Eskimo and it was half the price of the Mora.
Anyone know which is better or have a suggestion/preference? (I believe either will work with my adapter so I want the best one for my money)

Don't waste your money on an Eskimo. I think you'll be sorry you did. The Mora is a good auger for the money. People are raving about the Nil's augers. They are a bit more money, but probably worth it. Remember, you get what you pay for.
I use a Mora on my home made adaptor for my drill and it works awesome. I don't know anyone who is happy with their Eskimo once they see a Mora in action (dull or sharp blades). There may be some happy folk with them out there, but I don't know of any.
To summarize hand augers as I know it.
1. Nil's
2. Strike Master, Mora
3. Eskimo
I have no experience or knowledge of the Lazer.

I have a Eskimo 10" gas that I love, I also have a Eskimo 6" hand that I wish would fall down a hole, my next hand auger will be a Nils

Thanks for the input! I have heard of the Nil's but that is about it. I will have to so some research and see if it will work with my adapter.

Don't have to carry fuel, multifunctional, convenient, and many more things and reasons I just can't list at the moment

Fishing through holes in ice is common in many parts of the world. One of the earliest methods of cutting these holes was to use an ice chisel, or "spud bar" as it is known in the United States. These spud bars are chisels over 6 ft (1.8 m) long, usually made entirely of iron or steel. Many variations exist, some with jagged teeth on the bit, some with skewed edges, and many different grind angles and head sizes. Early ice spuds (before about 1925) often had wooden handles and a steel head fixed with a tang and collar or socket, like a carpenters chisel.
Spud bars are still carried by many ice fishermen as a means to test ice thickness and safety. A sturdy thrust of the spud bar will often penetrate unsafe ice.

I have the 6" Eskimo Barracuda and love it. I use it on my electric Ice Gater and I have no problem cutting through 18" of ice. When I used it by hand, it worked great also. The Nils is the best and most expensive.

I think Nils is #1 then Strikemaster Lazer. Whatever you do be careful with whatever you get blades are expensive and dull fairly easily. If you can help it don't drill through old holes.
That reminds me. Everyone should avoid testing ice with small rocks. Those rocks stick in the ice, get snowed on and then people hit them with their augers.

DON'T BUY THE ESKIMO!!! I made the same mistake. Next season bought a nils and gave the eskimo to my brother in law. after 1 or 2 trips he sold it to another sucker and bought himself a nils as well. You may pay a few extra dollars for a nils but they are worth every penny when you have to hand drill a foot and a half of ice. It took me about 1 minute to do so.

Mora hand Auger for the money will do the job.
Power Auger go with the strikemaster.

I've heard of the LX=i handheld sonar by Marcum but haven't really heard much info on them beyond the description. I bought the VX-3 flasher a couple seaons ago and it is incredible! Let us know how your set up works.

Sounds like you got a good deal on the Strikemaster auger. I have a big power auger, but I went with the hand nils this year to lessen weight when I need to go on a hike.
