New Canoe!
#1
Ok, well its not really new its actually a bit old. But yeah anyways, a family friend is moving and had 3 canoes. I snatched one for $200. Its a coleman ram x 15 (15' canoe) I don't know much about it but google search results show images of them outfitted with fishing gear so looks like I can fish from it ok. Anyone ever been in one of these canoes? Was it fairly easy to fish out of? The unfortunate thing about the canoe is its in Washington so I have to go get it lol. I was planning a trip up their anyways though... Gotta visit the family before im off to Afghanistan. I think I'll bring my new LR-243 (ar-10 chambered in .243) and see if I can kill a couple coyotes for fun.

Sorry I'll quit rambling... What I'm wondering is.. are there any other guys on here that go out in canoes or small boats to fish? Where are some of the places you go to fish? The one time I was at the government wash it seemed like there were a lot of jetski's which would make me a bit nervous in a canoe. 33 Hole didnt seem to have as much traffic but its a hell of a hike down to the water with a 15' canoe. Are there any other areas you guys are going with your small boats/canoes?

There are several of us out there that fish off small craft. There are all kinds of places to fish at. Boulder harbor, the Wash, 33, find a trail and follow it down to the water. If you can just try to get on the water during the week when most people are working. Good luck on the canoe.

For 33 Hole, launch from Gov't Wash then paddle out of Gov't Wash and to the other side of Vegas Wash. You can see the parking lot where the trailhead is located toward the right of the opposite shoreline. Just paddle in that direction.

As you navigate Gov't Wash, stay close to the shoreline when you can, the jetards will not bother you. Going across Vegas Wash gets hairy especially when the speed boats produce wakes as they go by. But is not too bad.

Just be mindful of the wind. If it starts to white cap while you'll at 33 Hole, start heading back or you will have to paddle up wind most of the way and its slow going.
