With extreme care. I sure wouldn't go running up or down river at anything other than a crawl if you don't know what you're doing. That darn river is shallow in all the wrong places.

not prop friendly. need a jet and know how to read the water. i dinged up my prop majorly in my rookie days a few miles above swan falls in the middle of the river.

The answer to your question is YES. I launched my 18' river john boat this afternoon there, and the water is plenty deep around the launch ramp. My boat does have a jet engine, but I am still careful and keep an eye on the depth finder. The main question is "do you have a depth finder on your boat". I would not put in if you do not have a good depth finder and drive your boat cautiously. The middle of the river at Marsing is 6-12', but as stated in previous answers, there are quite a few shallow spots and gravel bars.

Yes I have a good depth findr, and an electric bow mount trolling motor, I was wanting to launch below the job corps building actually and bass fish.

If you launch from the jc ramp you can go upstream if your very careful but I wouldn't go downstream.

yea down stream is a no go that's for sure, you can almost see the gravel bar going all the way across, you can go about 1/2 mile down from marsing and maybe the same up river than you will be having problems with the shallow water....
