Just a Quick Hi from Calif
#1
New to the boards... I have been fishing for Kokanee for over 20+ years. 2007 I was Angler of the Year. I enjoy helping others. I own a 2005 18' North River with all the bells and whistles. Hope to help a few anglers out....

Welcome to the site KM, have you found our Freshwater fishing board? It has a section for kokanee. What lake in Cal do you fish for kokanee?
I just got back from a kokanee fishing trip, here is a pic from that trip.

WH2: I fish mostly at Lake Berryessa and Lake Pardee for the Kokes. At Berryessa, they are the biggest in the State. Yesterday, (7/14) I caught my biggest of this year at 2lbs 10oz. We kept fish from 17" to 19".
Where did you catch all those kokes in the picture?

Nice, 17" to 19" kokes and almost 3 lbs are a great size.
We have several lakes here in Utah with kokanee, the most popular is Flaming Gorge and with kokes up to 6 lbs although the average is 2.5-3 lbs.
Those kokes in the pic were caught at a little lake in Northern Utah called Porcupine. The limit there is 12 per angler, so we did not catch our 24 on that day but it was fun even though they are small.

Nice, is 10 one limit or two? In Utah out limits are only 3 or 4 in most lakes, @ porcupine the limit is 12 because the fish over populate, if anglers don't keep them. How many hours did it take to catch 10? In my profile pic I'm holding a decent koke I caught last Aug right before the spawn http://www.bigfishtackle.com/cgi-bin/community/community.cgi?do=user_page;pg=user_profile_view.html;username=wiperhunter2

Yea, N8LUVS2FISH posted a detailed report on the KFF, sounds like a great kokanee lake you fish at there in Cal. How far do you have to travel to fish it? My closest lake is about an hour away, to get to the Gorge is 3 hours plus depending on if I'm pulling a boat or not. Strawberry is about 2 hours drive. Have you tried any kokanee Creek Tackle? I love their Splatter blade trolling harnesses.

Lake Berryessa is about 1 1/2 hrs. away. We also have Melones and Pardee. They are full of fish, but in the 12 to 15" range.

WH2: Been nice chatting with you. Good Luck to You on your next adventure...
