Any news on local ice? Anyone been to Scofield yet? Other areas known to be frozen? Thanks much. Just aching to get onthe ice.

Went to Scofield Monday. See my report. Lake still basically wide open with ice in the very north bay and dam arm. We fished on about 3" on the dam arm. There are still a couple of open spots in that area as well.

I watched someone go through the ice at Scofield on Tuesday. Got out easy enough but his day was done. Only two of us groups on the ice. 27 degrees when we got there at 7 a.m. and 37 degrees and windy when we left at noon. Not ice building weather. Found ice to fish on but varied from 2-3 inches and not the high quality ice I like. Open water everywhere including the bottleneck right by the dam and that grew while we were there.

Fished in 6 man tent with buddy and that much weight had us sitting in 2 inches of water and the ice bending. Had to ditch the tent to spread out and fight the wind.

Fishing was slower than expected with about a dozen cutts and a few tigers. No monsters.

Looking at forecasted temps, I probably won't try again until the middle of next week.
