Hey, can anyone tell me about their experiences at Roger's Marine in Centerville? I need to take in a Honda trolling motor for some work (a head gasket or seal between water pump and engine) and Roger's is a "certified Honda" repair center. Lee @ Lee's marine said Honda are very secretive about their parts, manuals, etc. and although he doesn't like to turn away money, he recommended to take it to a Honda Marine dealer since he has a difficult time trying to get any info or parts out of them since he does not do Honda engines. Just curious if anyone has used Roger's Marine and what they thought. Thanks.

I'm going to move your post to the main Utah board for a few days, to see if you can get a response.

Well its been awhile, but a number of years ago I took a boat in for them to check out the motor. That was in April. By October they still hadn't checked it out after repeatedly telling me they were going to get right on it. I finally had enough and told them I'd take it elsewhere. The guy was "kind enough" to not charge me for not doing anything, and actually had the balls to say as much. I would never take anything to them if they were the last engine mechanics on the plant! I have used Rogers twice when I was a new boat owner. It was peak season when I used his services so he was busy. He missed the time lines to start the projects that he gave me and his pricing was way high. (In my opinion) I don't want to completely give a bad review. The work he did was very good. This time of the year you would most likely have his full attention. Good luck and it was good seeing you on KSL Outdoors.

Before I moved I used Rodgers Marine many times for repairs and parts. The work is always been excellent. You do pay a hefty price he is not cheap nor is he prompt. You will wait to get something done during boating season. In his defense though I have never found a cheap certified boat dealer.

I agree with Bigmo65, in that all certified marine dealers are expensive, but with a major repair/tear down I'd rather pay a premium and hopefully have it done right the first time. Labor at these shops run from $75-$95/hour, but if they can get it done correctly, then its priceless!

I have never had any repairs done by him but I have bought new motors from him in the past. One was an 8HP Mercury and the other was a 125 HP mercury that he replaced a 90hp Johnson on a Tracker I use to run years ago. He had to change all the controls over from OMC to Mercury in the boat, never had a bit of a problem with either motor. I thought he was very fair to deal with. Granted he is not fast but he was always busy when I went in.
