If "better" means less crowded, then yes. But it's a limited benefit because there are plenty of non-churchies (of all delusions) that hit the waters and golf courses thinking they'll be less crowded on that day.

If you fish in the winter the crowds are far less then half of what they usually are... But Sundays are a bit less crowded but not much.

As for fishing on Sunday it's a little less crowded until about noon. It always makes me chuckle when people start showing up on Sunday. It's always about 1 and again a few more show up at 4. That's when a lot of meeting times end or rather about an hour before that. You don't get/see the same thing happen on Saturday. [signature]

Being a native Californian, after moving to the beehive state I was shocked to learn that you did not have to line up 2 hours before the lake opened just to HOPE to get in. This is an every week end fact of life there on most of the better bass lakes in the south. Now I have a couple of the better lakes here to myself on sundays. Not Sand Hollow but that's an over rated pond anyway.

[cool][#0000FF]The best time to go fishing is whenever you can get on the water...Sundays included.

Lots of "Sunday sinners" worship at the Church of the Seventh Day Angler. It is sometimes said: "I would rather be out fishing and thinking about God than sitting in church and thinking about fishing." There's an old joke about a preacher/bishop/priest that loved to fish...and faked being sick one Sunday in order to go fishing...leaving the church functions to others to handle. He arrived at his favorite spot on the lake and immediately began to catch fish...lots of fish...big fish. Best day of fishing he ever had. Up in heaven one of the angels asked God..."How can you allow him to have such a good fishing trip? Why aren't you punishing him for lying and going fishing instead of taking care of his congregation?" To which God replied: "Who is he going to tell?" As others have commented, there is still a lot of activity on most waters but not as much in the earlier part of the day. Definitely not as busy as Saturdays...or even Fridays...the "new Saturday" in Utah. [/#0000FF] [signature]

[/#0000ff][/quote] You got that right! Everybody whines that there's no jobs, can't find work, blah blah blah. Yet, NOBODY seems to work on Friday, they're all fishing. I see it as the busiest of the 7 days. If you're unemployed, maybe try looking for work on Fridays? [signature]

] The church of the 7th day angler lmao, as TD puts it. Got to pull the heathens up from the depths to expose them to the light. Yes sunday is quieter but weekdays even better haha.[signature]

Of course I'm biased, and I've never bass fished in the South (or out of Utah, for that matter), but if Sand Hollow is overrated I might just die if I made it onto an "average" bass fishery. SH is my new favorite place to fish, outside of Powell, but Powell is a bit far and without a boat, it's tough. If not Sand Hollow, where in Utah can you catch that quantity/quality? I very much enjoy the Life of the Seven-Day Weekend. I almost never fish or golf on Saturday or Sunday. Of the five "good" days of the week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the least crowded, Fridays are the worst, with Mondays a close second. Thursdays - for whatever reason - can be good or bad. Can't explain that one.

Really Dave!!?!! If I were to just come right out and say that, I would have to have my head examined wouldn't I? Half the fun of fishing is figuring out just when, where and why the fish are where they're at in the first place. It takes time on the water thru ALL seasons and all water levels and a good understanding of just what's happening on your graph. Perhaps I've already said too much. But trust me, Sand Hollow, a very good fishery, is way over rated. [signature]

I wasn't asking for your secret spot, and in fact, it was more of a rhetorical question than anything. I enjoy discovering new waters and techniques, and agree with everything you said. I meant no disrerspect or anything in my last post. Glad to know there is bigger and better out there.

I almost always Fish on Wednesday and if not, I'll go on Thursday. I'd say Wednesday is the best day to go if you don't mind fishing alone because, nobody is out it seems.

When I go on the weekends it's just for the company and good times with friends and being able to meet other fisherman and women. [signature] |
