I fished there two weekends in a row. Nothing over 12" in that lake and only caught rainbow's and splake. My suggestions is to not waiste your time on that ice. I'm just bummed on that lake, don't listen to me.

Caught about 20-30 last weekend. Nothing big but I know there's monsters in there which makes me still fish it. Caught several fish over 22" up there ice fishing, biggest as 25 1/2" tiger a couple years ago

I fished it a couple weeks ago. Got plenty of small rainbows. Fished in about 25 feet of water and caught all of our fish right on the bottom. Go real small with your offering and tip with a crawler. I just used a small jig head with a peice of crawler on it. No plastic tube on the jig head, just bait.

If things don't pan out for you and your son at Causey, stop by Pineview on your way back and give it a try, might be worth your time.

thank you, hes actually my boss's son.. its his first time on the ice, going with my boss's husband and thier son... he wants to hit causey in hopes for kokes but was interested in some good trout as weel, figured wed have better luck with the trout. but im hitting pineview next weekend, hopefully some good perch will come of that trip but this weekend im dedicated to the trout at causey.... ive never had luck for trout, im a bass fisherman when theres open water so if i get a big trout through the ice that will really make my season.... hoping for the big brown, but ill take what i get!

You would likely do better for trout at East canyon or Lost creek but if you have your mind made up, check out this pic of a brown that was caught at Causey a few years back by LH2.

The guy that caught it, went up to check the ice thickness and saw some friend down fishing on very thin ice, he did not even have a pole but borrowed his friends and preceeded to catch that beauty, talk about lucky.

Thanks for the report, good to hear you caught some fish and a bonus koke. Sure haven't heard many reports of kokes being caught up there this year. Were you fishing near the Dam?
