Ohio River, worth the trip?

Was told the polution has the river useless for fishing. Anyone been to the river laitly? Was thinking about trying it out before the snow starts flying.
I want to try for some cats. Any sugestions on where to get my line wet down there?

some one told me that about the ohio some 30 years ago, I think that river runs west if my geogrophy memory serves me?

down to the mississippi....

I guess it would be ok for catch and release.....

I talked to a gentleman the other day that told me that although he has a large inboard docked on the river, he has gone fishing only once this year. His reasons were all he caught was garbage and with the lousy summer it wasn't worth his while to travel down to the river and spend another fruitless day.

Looks like I wont waist my time trying to fish the river then.

I think I am going to look in to what it is going to take to get some one on to this river to get it cleaned up.
